Vaccinations

Vaccinations

All of our puppies come vaccinated however; It depends upon the age of the puppy (when you take it home) as to how many of the required vaccinations it will have received. For example if the puppy is 8 weeks old when you take it home ( in most cases that is the youngest I will let a puppy leave my care) then it will have received the following vaccinations: Distemper, Canine Adenovirus-2, Parvo, Parainfluenza, Hepatitis, Bordetella (kennel cough prevention) and Drontol Puppy (de-wormer). If the puppy is 11 weeks old, when it leaves my care, the puppy will have received 2 sets of the above vaccinations, and 3 de-wormings. Because of their growing immune system, puppies can not receive their Rabies vaccination until the age of 16 weeks, so naturally this is usually done by the new owners vet. Unlike most other breeders who only offer a 3 day (as best) guarantee on their puppies, I offer a 15 day health guarantee so that you do not have to rush to the vet right away. This way (in most cases) you can get the next vaccination and the check-up at the same time saving yourself money on vet bills.

Registration

Registration

Our puppies are registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC) and or the American Canine Association (ACA). All registration papers will be supplied or mailed as soon as breeder receives them. AKC and or ACA fees for registration of your puppy in the name you select, and a pedigree (if you desire) are not included in the sale price of the puppy.

De-worming

De-worming

All our puppies receive their first de-worming treatment at 6 weeks of age, when they are old enough to receive the medication, and again every two to three weeks until they go home. No puppy will ever knowingly leave our kennel while infected with parasites and or worms. As part of our routine health treatment plan, all our puppies receive Fecal Float tests for internal parasites which include such parasites and worms, Giardia, and Coccidia. If a puppy, in our care, tests positive for parasites the puppy will be given the proper treatment and follow-up tests will be given. Once the test results are negative the puppy will be made available.

Micro Chip

Micro Chip

Boston Terriers

Do Boston Terriers Have To Be Black/White To Be Registered With The AKC?

NO. I have been breeding and registering boston terriers with the AKC for years. As a breeder of both black/white and red/while bostons, I receive numerous calls, and e-mails, from people asking about the AKC standards for this wonderful breed. So I have decided to dedicate a page on my website to hopefully clear up any confusion my visitors might have concerning the various colors of these wonderful dogs.

AKC Registered red/white boston terriers have been popular in the mid-west for years, and recently their popularity is spreading like wildfire all over the US. And why not, all one has to do is see a photo of one of these little darlings to fall in love with them.

Why Are People So Confused About The Color?

If you were to visit the AKC website located at www.akc.org and enter the word boston terrier as your search you will be directed to a page that lists the AKC standard for this breed. You will notice that they list coat colors of black/white, brindle/white, and or seal/white (which is black with a reddish undercoat) but no place on their website are the colors red/white, brown/white, or chocolate/white mentioned for the boston terrier breed - why is this? The AKC standard, listed on this website, is for SHOW purposes only and currently the only color that meets the standard for show is black/white.

What If I Am Looking For a Champion Show Dog?

If you intend on purchasing a puppy with the hopes of entering him/her in the show ring, then I recommend two things; 1. Dont buy from me. My puppies are not show quality. I, and my partners, breed for temperament and companionship. 2. Purchase a black and white puppy that meets with the AKC standard for show.

What If I Have No Intentions Of Showing My Dog?

Then you have come to the right place. As I mentioned earlier I do not breed for show quality dogs and both the AKC and ACA happily registers my companion quality boston terriers in colors described as red/white, brown/white and chocolate/white. I have written documentation from the AKC and as follows, "Puppies born of litters where both the parents are AKC registered qualify for AKC registration. For the Boston Terrier breed, Seal and White (170) would be used to describe a red and white dog. . . ". Although the Seal/white color would be considered black/white with reddish undertones, if the dog were to enter the show ring, this is not the case for companion quality dogs. Companion quality dogs do not have to meet Show Ring Standards to be registered with the AKC.
